Swimming pools safety considerations

If you're planning on having an inflatable pool at your home, there are some things that you need to know before purchasing one.

On 1 December 2019, new laws to improve swimming pool and spa safety came into effect in Victoria. These include new registration, inspection and certification requirements for property owners. As part of these changes, owners are required to register their pool and spa with their local council and have their safety barrier inspected once every four years. If a Victorian residential pool or spa has a depth of 30cm or more (300mm), it is required to be surrounded by a safety barrier. This rule also applies to inflatable pools.

Before buying any pool or spa, it is important to consider the Pool and spa compliant safety barrier laws by your local and state government for guidelines in your area.

Make sure to empty and store safely away where children can’t reach. Never leave it where it can refill with rain or sprinkler water.

Supervise and actively watch children within arm’s reach. Don’t leave older children in charge.
